About Riga

Riga is the capital of Latvia and also 
the Culture Capital of Europa in 2014!

It is located along the Baltic Sea at the southern coast of the Gulf of Riga. Riga is Latvia’s political, economic and culture centre, where more than one third of Latvia’s population (706 thousand) lives and works. Riga was founded in 1201, and it is one of the oldest medieval cities in Europe, which has been listed by UNESCO as one of the world’s most important cultural and natural sites.

Riga has attractive sightseeing places - elegant Old Town and the district of buildings in 
Art Nouveau style - style from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
